Swimming Pool Design & Construction

Award-winning pool builders serving London and the South East. Over forty years of specialist swimming pool experience.

Real pools. Carefully considered.

The people behind the pools

A pool is a big decision.
You should know who’s building it.

Mermaid has been family-run since 1981. Today Steven and James lead the business, carrying forward the experience built across three generations. The value of that experience is not simply the number of years. It is knowing who is responsible for your project.

What you don’t see

The best pools look effortless.
Building them isn’t.

The finished pool is only part of the story. Ground conditions, the shell and the systems behind the water all need to work together.

One connected relationship

From the first conversation.

Four years after the first swim · Matfield

“The team at Mermaid were excellent to work with from design and scoping through to implementation, working alongside our garden landscaping team, and now, 4 years on, with ongoing care of the pool. It has been transformative for our kids and is used for hours almost every day and looks as good as it did the day it was finished. Thanks guys we really appreciate what you have done.”

Before you begin

Questions about your pool project.

What affects the cost of a swimming pool?

The site, access, size, construction, finishes and equipment all shape the scope. Mermaid’s project records show different specifications for different properties. Discuss your own site for a project-specific proposal; there is no standard price published here.

How long does swimming pool construction take?

A programme depends on the property and the work involved. The Tunbridge Wells concrete pool was completed within four months, but that is a recorded project outcome, not a promised timescale for every pool.

Do you design, build and look after the pool?

Mermaid’s process covers consultation, design and specification, construction, commissioning and handover. Ongoing maintenance and servicing are also available.

Can an older swimming pool be refurbished?

Yes. Mermaid’s Biddenden, Brenchley and Sevenoaks projects retained existing structures after assessment. Testing establishes what can be kept and whether refurbishment is appropriate.

Where does Mermaid work?

London and the South East, including Kent, Surrey, East Sussex and West Sussex. Tell the team where your property is when discussing the project.

A new pool, an existing pool that needs a fresh start, or an idea you would like to explore. Start with your property and what matters to you.
